LMC: 60 Seconds

By Jay Siegfried, MD, President, Lankenau Medical Staff, and Phil Robinson, President, LMC

Lankenau Medical Center is proud to announce that our hip and knee joint replacement programs have been awarded the Gold Seal of Approval® from The Joint Commission. This certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects our commitment to meeting exemplary performance standards.

To earn this distinction, our orthopaedic programs underwent an extensive on-site evaluation by a Joint Commission reviewer who assessed our processes and ability to evaluate and improve care within our organization, as well as interviewed patients and staff.

Lankenau recently relocated its orthopaedic unit from 2SW to 1SW – a move that enabled the department to transition to private rooms for all orthopaedic and spine patients. In a few weeks, we will complete construction on a new Rehab Room in the back of 1SW, which will be used for stair training and group occupational therapy for orthopaedic patients prior to discharge.

1SW is also equipped with cardiac monitoring technology. Now, when patients with sleep apnea or other conditions that require a heart monitor are admitted to the unit, they are able to stay with the rest of the orthopaedic population. Thank you to our physicians, nurses and staff for your dedication to continually raising the standard of care for our orthopaedic patients.
