New MLH policy provides guidelines for Care of the Pregnant Patient

Submitted by Steven Gamburg, MD, System Chair, Emergency Medicine; Nancy Roberts, MD, System Chair, Obstetrics/Gynecology; Jonathan Stallkamp, MD, System Section Chief, Hospital Medical Services

A new policy, Clinical Guideline: Care of the Pregnant Patient, coordinates care of the pregnant patient between different clinical services in the hospital setting, addressing both arrival/triage and hospital admission/disposition. It is especially important for ED providers as well as OB providers to review.

The policy also delineates the most appropriate clinical service to provide care to the pregnant patient who is admitted, taking into consideration gestational age and diagnosis.

The Main Line Health policy on Care of the Pregnant Patient can be accessed from the MLH intranet homepage. A link has been included below for internal access from a MLH device: https://mainlinehealth.ellucid.com/documents/view/13018 .
