Main Line Health Laboratories will start performing all allergy test effective October 6, 2014 using the Phadia instrument, the same instrument used in most reference laboratory testing. This test will be performed at the core laboratory at Lankenau Medical Center as single test or as conventional panels such as Northeast panel, food allergy panel. This will improve turnaround time, in most cases results will be out same day as specimen collection day.

The other significant test will be Peanut allergy component test. Peanut component panel of IgE to Ara 1,2,3,8 and 9 assess risk of mild local reaction or severe allergic reaction such as anaphylaxis as well as differentiation between true reactivity and cross reactivity. We are going to utilize sensitive reagents for peanut allergy testing with cut off of 0.1kU/L instead of 0.35kU/L.We will offer peanut allergy test as standalone test, peanut allergy test with reflex peanut component test or peanut component test only.
