ICD-10: The benefits

ICD-10 codes, the most widely used statistical classification system for diseases in the world, will be implemented in the U.S. this year for discharges on or after October 1, 2015.

 

This week’s downloadable poster explains that ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS present a number of benefits in building an electronic medical record. These new classifications are better suited for use electronically because they permit more robust mapping.
