Dr. Picard succeeds Dr. Stassi as Barbara Brodsky Comprehensive Breast Center Imaging Director

Submitted by Emma Simpson, MD, System chair of Radiology, MLH, and Tom Frazier, MD FACS, medical director of the Barbara Brodsky Comprehensive Breast Center

We are pleased to announce that Alicia Picard, MD, will assume the role of imaging director of the Barbara Brodsky Comprehensive Breast Center at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Dr. Picard completed her undergraduate education at Harvard University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.  She received her degree in medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She continued there as a resident in radiology and stayed for her fellowship training in breast imaging. She has many publications to her credit and has continued to distinguish herself as a doctor of the highest medical and ethical standards during her time at Main Line Health, while at the same time demonstrating the humility that is essential to good leadership.

We wish to extend our sincere thanks to John Stassi, MD, also an AOA graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He has been the director of breast imaging for Bryn Mawr Hospital since 2001 and provided the leadership and vision that was essential to bring the concept of the first comprehensive breast center in the area to fruition. Dr. Stassi has guided the center through a period of tremendous growth and success, including through the more recent transition to 3-D tomographic breast imaging.  He is stepping down to pursue other interests and will continue in his role as the MLH System Division Chief of Breast Imaging.

It is an honor to work with both of these individuals, and we wish them all the best.
