It’s flu season: Use standard precautions for all patients

By Mark J. Ingerman, MD, FACP, Chief, Infectious Diseases and Chief, Infection Prevention and Control

Per the Centers for Disease Control, Influenza is on the rise nationally. Our local community and the patients we serve are also experiencing this increase in the incidence of Influenza.

Although vaccinated, our health care providers may still contract influenza or other respiratory illnesses.  We ask health care providers to utilize standard precautions for all patients, including those with respiratory symptoms. Utilize masks and hand hygiene diligently.

In consideration of the health and safety of your patients and fellow co-workers, please stay home when ill to prevent the spread of respiratory illness.
