John Dougherty appointed System Director of Safety and Security

I am pleased to announce the appointment of John W. Dougherty as the System Director of Safety and Security effective January 27, 2017.  In this newly created System role, John will be responsible for all Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness operations across the Main Line Health continuum.

John began his career at Main Line Health in 2015 as Safety and Security Manager for Paoli Hospital with responsibility for the oversight of all safety and security related events for both the Hospital and the offsite facilities in Collegeville, Exton Square and the Mirmont Outpatient Center in Exton. John also manages the Environment of Care program for the Hospital and serves as Paoli’s Emergency Management Coordinator.

In his new role, John will be responsible for the development and implementation of Systemwide policies and procedures related to Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness. He will oversee these operations on each campus and outpatient sites to ensure that each hospital Director/Manager of Security has the resources, tools and support necessary to ensure the safety of our patients, employees and visitors.

John brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience as a former Chief of Police for the Borough of Bridgeport in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and a former member of the Lower Merion Police Department where he served in progressively higher roles from police officer to Captain throughout his 26 year career in Lower Merion. John is well versed and experienced in safety and security measures coupled with additional training in various Leadership Programs including the FBI National Academy Leadership Program.
