Sean Rowland named as Main Line Health’s first System Director, Surgical Services

Main Line Health has announced that Sean Rowland, CRNA, MS, MBA, will join MLH in the new position of System Director, Surgical Services, effective May 1.  He is currently Vice President, Perioperative Services, at Pennsylvania Hospital.


In this new role, Sean will report to Phil Robinson, Lankenau Medical Center President, and MLH CNO Barbara Wadsworth as system executive sponsors for Surgical Services, and he will work collaboratively with Surgery dyad leadership, Pat Ross, MD, Chair of Surgery, and Margie Iacobacci, VP, Patient Services at LMC, as well as each campus dyad leadership team and anesthesia. Sean will focus his work on building consistency and a System perspective to develop and implement the overall strategic plan for surgical services across MLH, including coordinating surgical services Systemwide, establishing clinical, educational and research priorities, and setting operational and quality performance measures.  He will also be responsible for developing a comprehensive physician alignment model that ensures surgical care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, patient-centered and equitable.


While at Pennsylvania Hospital, Sean was involved in numerous major expansion projects for surgical services, and held leadership positions on the Periop Governance Board. He previously held clinical positions at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital as well as at several other local hospitals.


Sean holds Master of Business Administration and Master of Science degrees from St. Joseph’s University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from LaSalle University, and an Associate Degree of Nursing from Community College of Philadelphia. Among his professional memberships, he is currently a Director-at-Large of the Association of Anesthesia Clinical Directors. Sean is also a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve.
