This week’s STEEEP Huddle topic—submitted by Karen Fitzpatrick-Smith, Manager, Workforce Development, Human Resources, and Team Lead, Diversity, Respect & Inclusion — notes that MLH staff can better provide culturally competent care through understanding and respecting the cultural backgrounds of patients and co-workers. A valuable tool to aid this understanding is CultureVisionTM, a web-based resource on MLH computer desktops with information on more than 50 different cultural groups, religions and disabilities.
The STEEEP Huddle template is a guide to conduct unit-based Huddles or during departmental staff meetings. The STEEEP Huddle topics are posted on the Performance Excellence 2020 site at landing.mainlinehealth.org/PE2020.
Although all physicians may not have the opportunity to participate in the STEEEP Huddles, the topics are being included in MLH Clinician weekly to help share the information across MLH.
