BMH unveils newly renovated Pediatric Unit with ribbon cutting and tours

The newly renovated inpatient pediatric unit at Bryn Mawr Hospital held an open house with a ribbon cutting and tours to unveil its new space and name. Now called the Lori Beth Brodsky Pediatric Wing, the unit has been named in memory of the daughter of longtime Main Line Health benefactor, Mrs. Barbara (Bobbi) Brodsky. The renovations to the unit were made possible by a $1.6 million gift from Mrs. Brodsky in memory of her late daughter, who passed away in 2015.

“We are so deeply appreciative to Bobbi and her family for their continued support of Bryn Mawr Hospital and Main Line Health,” said Andrea Gilbert, President, Bryn Mawr Hospital. “The renovations made to the pediatric unit demonstrate Main Line Health’s commitment to providing a superior experience to all who come to us for care – especially to our youngest patients. We are honored to dedicate this unit in Lori Beth’s memory and are thrilled that the beautiful renovations match the highly-skilled, compassionate care our team provides.”

As part of the renovation, each patient room was updated with fresh paint, flooring, flat screen televisions and Xbox one video game systems. The hallways, flooring and lighting throughout the unit were upgraded. Additionally, the nurses’ station was redesigned and the nursing call system was upgraded for maximum efficiency and workflow. The family nourishment room, playroom and conference rooms were also renovated.

“On behalf of the entire Main Line Health team, we are incredibly grateful to the Brodsky family for their unwavering support,” says Jack Lynch, President and CEO, Main Line Health. “The Brodsky family’s ongoing generosity – dating back to their very first philanthropic gift to us in 1988 – has resulted in more than $9 million in contributions to improving and enhancing the health of our communities. The renovations to the pediatric unit, matched with our partnership with the renowned clinicians of Nemours, further enhances Bryn Mawr Hospital’s commitment to serve as a destination for superior pediatric care that is close to home.”
