VESICAL clinical trial now available for SUI

Dr. Marc Toglia and his team at Urogynecology Associates of Philadelphia and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, with offices at Riddle Hospital and Paoli Hospital, have announced they will begin enrollment in the VESICAL Clinical Trial sponsored by Solace Therapeutics, Inc. The Vesair® Bladder Control Procedure is a novel, non-surgical alternative therapy for female stress urinary incontinence (SUI). The patient benefits of this potential new treatment option are that it is completely reversible, does not require a recovery period, and is performed in a doctor’s office without the need for pain medication.

The Vesair Balloon is a small, lightweight device that floats within the bladder. The balloon is designed to eliminate or reduce involuntary urinary leakage. It acts as a “cushion” to reduce the temporary pressure changes in the bladder that are attributed to urinary leakage.

SUI affects 15 million women in the United States; in fact, more than half of all women experience some type of pelvic floor problem during their lifetime. Pelvic floor disorders like urinary incontinence can have a dramatic effect on a woman’s quality of life causing both physical and emotional discomfort, and interfering with daily and social activities.
