By Marie Vanbuskirk, director, Medical Staff Affairs
The MLH Medical Staff Bylaws Committee received a request from the Department of Medicine to amend the Medical Staff Rules and Regulations to permit Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners to pronounce death and complete death certificates. This is permitted via the Vital Statistics Law of 1953, Amended Act of June 22, 2012.
Upon further review with MLH Legal Counsel, additional language changes were proposed to improve clarity of this Section of the Rules and Regulations.
As noted on the attachment, these amendments are being communicated for informational purposes prior to a vote by the Medical Executive Committee at their October 16, 2017 meeting.
