We are very pleased to announce the appointment of James R. Gengaro, DO as the Regional Vice President of Medical Affairs for Paoli Hospital and Riddle Hospital.

After a comprehensive search process including candidates from both the region and outside our state, Jim was the consensus candidate based on his extensive experience in Hospital Medicine, quality and patient safety improvement as well as clinical redesign and change management through his leadership work in Performance Excellence 2020 projects. Jim has been the physician lead in the CHF and COPD clinical transformation project redesigning the model of care in both the inpatient and outpatient environments to optimize the STEEEP experience for our patients. Jim was a critical member of the Department of Medicine’s PIVOT team facilitating the build, training and adoption of Epic for the 800+ members of the Department of Medicine.  Jim is well known to many of us for his work ethic and his authentic concern for the patient and their family.

Dr. Gengaro did his undergraduate education at the State University of New York at Geneseo in Biology, a Masters of Medical Science from Hahnemann, medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and his Internal Medicine Residency at Lankenau Medical Center. He has been Board Certified in Internal Medicine since 2009. His career started as a member of the Hospital Medicine service at Lankenau. Jim became the Campus Chief of Hospital Medicine at Riddle in 2012. Jim and his wife Dana are parents of three young children.

Dr Gengaro’s appointment will take effect Monday, September 10, 2018. At that time Dr. Jon Stallkamp will assume his full-time leadership role as the Regional Vice President of Medical Affairs for Bryn Mawr Hospital and Lankenau Medical Center. We’re especially pleased to have identified emerging leaders from within Main Line Health for these important roles.

We want to take this opportunity to extend our sincere appreciation and best wishes to 2 members of our senior leadership team who will be transitioning from their leadership roles. Dr. Bob Benz has been the VP of Medical Affairs (VPMA) at Lankenau and Dr Bob Fried the VPMA at Paoli both since 2008. They both held the inaugural appointments in these important leadership roles and have done so with distinction. Please join us in congratulating and thanking them on their years of service at Main Line Health in these roles. Recognition events will occur for both at their home institutions in the near future.
