This week’s STEEEP Huddle topic – submitted by Brian Duke, System director, Senior Services – focuses on falls prevention. According to national statistics, falls are the leading cause of injury-related Emergency Department visits for older adults, the major cause of hip fractures and responsible for more than half of fatal head injuries. In addition to the actions taken to ensure the safety of inpatients to maintain and enhance mobility, MLH also offers four outpatient classes to address multiple factors that contribute to falls at home. For more information on these programs, go to the MLH website section on falls. or call the Contact Center at 484.580.1000 or 866.225.5654. The STEEEP Huddle topics are posted on the Performance Excellence 2020 site at landing.mainlinehealth.org/PE2020.
