Laurence Morel, PhD, professor and vice chair for research and academic affairs in the Department of Pathology at University of Florida, will visit Lankenau Institute for Medical Research on Thursday, June 6, to give the talk “Tryptophan metabolism, microbiome and lupus.”
Dr. Morel will outline her research that suggests the interplay among gut dysbiosis, tryptophan metabolism and genetic susceptibility may contribute to the activation of autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus. She notes that her team’s findings may “serve as a potential target for developing therapeutic interventions that mitigate lupus progression.”
The talk will be held 10-11:00am in LMC’s Annenberg conference center, Room 101AB. All clinicians and researchers are welcome to attend.
